Reporting to the Publicity Director this position will assist the Publicity Director with all administrative duties relating to the Publicity Department, including scheduling interviews and maintaining databases. The Publicity Assistant will monitor, compile and distribute media clippings, assist in the planning of media events, pitch stories, write press releases, liaise with the media and undertake other projects, including writing for Festival publications. Proofreading and editing skills are an asset. This is an ideal position for an arts graduate with a Public Relations Diploma or equivalent experience.
It is essential that you have superb written, verbal and interpersonal skills; are a self-starter with initiative and the ability to effectively coordinate multiple assignments and projects; demonstrate the ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and handle multiple projects; demonstrate the patience to thoroughly track media and update databases and the ability to use basic computer programs. A keen knowledge of theatre is essential.
This position is based in Stratford. Evening and weekend work will be required. This is an eight-month contract position with the possibility of renewal.
