It’s never too early to start thinking about 2012, and here at the Festival we’re busy getting ready for our 60th season! On November 14 we open the Box Office once again for our Members’ on-sale week – an exclusive priority booking period that we extend just to our donors. Festival Members love this perk because it gives them the chance to book the best seats in the house, way before the rest of the crowd.
This season we have a ton of great shows to get excited about. At the Festival Theatre we have two Shakespeare plays: Much Ado About Nothing and Henry V, which is being directed by Des McAnuff. The Festival will also be home to the hit musical 42nd Street and Thornton Wilder’s The Matchmaker. Over at the Avon we have the greatly anticipated première performance of Christopher Plummer’s new work, A Word or Two, as well as The Pirates of Penzance and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown – a great couple of shows for the kids! The Tom Patterson Theatre will feature Shakespeare’s Cymbeline, helmed by General Director Antoni Cimolino; Wanderlust, a new Canadian musical about the great Bard of the Yukon, Robert Service; and the classic Greek tragedy Elektra. The intimate Studio Theatre will host the hilarious smash hit MacHomer, Daniel MacIvor’s The Best Brothers and Hirsch – another new Canadian play that tells the compelling story of John Hirsch, a holocaust survivor who, among his many achievements, became the Stratford Shakespeare Festival’s Artistic Director. We also have a special performance taking place in our new Studio Theatre Annex: The War of 1812.
We are thrilled to be celebrating our 60th season and hope that you’re planning to join us for it! And remember, if you become a Member of the Festival, you get early access to the best seats in the house.
